Kylie Cimen

Originally from Perth, Western Australia, Kylie has had a long-term relationship with literature. She spent much of her childhood with her nose in a book. Many of her early school reports highlight the number of books—often in the hundreds—she read in the year. Also, Kylie won numerous school and local awards for her writing talents.

However, despite encouragement by her high school English teacher to study English Literature, Kylie focussed on the sciences and completed a Bachelor degree in Science majoring in Chemistry and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education. While still at university, she joined the Royal Australian Air Force as an Education Officer. It was here that she used her creativity in the aviation training environment. Her favourite job was training design and development.

In 1998, Kylie realised she could no longer deny her passion to write, so she completed a course in Creative Writing for Children. The completion of this course led to some very creative ideas that did not quite make it to print.

During her RAAF basic training, Kylie met her husband Ali. They have four children and live in Sydney’s cosmopolitan inner west. Now in the busiest time of Kylie’s life as a full-time mother with many part time projects, she has found time to fulfil her passion for writing and have her first children’s book, Clara Worry Cloud, published.

Kylie is currently working on Five Minutes to Lizard Land, to be released early next year.
